RSS

RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication and is another way to find out what's happening on Pixelsurgeon. You can dicover more about the technicalities and issues with RSS at Wikipedia, if you want, but chances are, if you've clicked the link, all you want know is where are the feeds?

We're starting with RSS feeds for our Interviews and Reviews pages, and once we finish tweaking our back-end slightly, we'll be offering the much sought after News RSS feed.

The Feeds

You'll find all the RSS feeds we offer here. Copy and Paste the URLs into your RSS Reader/News Aggregator (unless your browser supports RSS*):

RSS Feed: News
RSS Feed: Reviews

RSS Feed: Interviews

More feeds coming soon

*Firefox supports RSS feeds: look for the symbol in the bottom right hand corner of the browser which allows you to subscribe to RSS feeds.

The new version of Safari that ships with Mac OS X 10.4 ("Tiger") supports RSS feeds, too. Look for the symbol in the address bar which indicates an RSS feed you can subscribe to.

RSS Readers

Macintosh Readers
NetNewsWire and NetNewsWire Lite are easy-to-use RSS Web news readers for Mac OS X. Their familiar three-paned interface—similar to Apple Mail and Outlook Express—can fetch and display news from thousands of different websites and weblogs, making it quick and easy to keep up with the latest news.
There's a variety of RSS readers on Mac OS X, but none offer the style of NewsFire. NewsFire is brimming with Aqua-beauty and a rich, dynamic user experience. The others feel aesthetically unpleasant, bloated, and stuck in an interface paradigm that makes no sense for RSS.
Windows Readers
SharpReader is simple but gets the job done. Advanced threading support allowing you to view connected items together in a threaded fashion. Feed settings like refresh-rate and purge timeout can be set per feed or per category. Dialog-less way of subscribing to new feeds - just drag a link from your browser into SharpReader.
FeedDemon includes many cool features including powerful podcasting tools to automatically download audio files and copy them to your iPod or other media player, integration with Bloglines and NewsGator Online Services, per-channel newspaper styles and improved popup-blocking under XP SP2
NewzCrawler is a fantastic RSS feed reader with a highly useable interface and tons of useful features and gimmicks. It gathers news content from each source channel and displays them in a number of views: News List, News Balloon and News Ticker. While Newz Crawler lets you post to blogs, its weak spot is news item relations.
Linux Readers
Straw is the best aggregator for GNOME. Requires PyGTK, libglade 2.4, gnome-python 2.0, Berkeley DB 3 or 4 and their Python bindings, ADNS library and the corresponding Python binding are highly recommended for smoother operation, but Straw will work without them.
